About Croc Run - Beach Survival Game

Easy for little hands

Move your mouse or drag a finger — your beachgoer simply runs where you point. No buttons to learn, no keyboard needed.

You choose the danger

Pick anywhere from one lazy crocodile to eight. More crocodiles means more points every second you stay alive.

Everyone gets a name

Pick your name from the list or add a new one. Every run is saved on your own device, with a leaderboard for the longest survivors.

How to play

Move: mouse or finger — your beachgoer follows it.
Sprint: hold the button or keep your finger down. Watch the green bar.
Read the waves: crocodiles are fast in the water and slow on dry sand. Every wave that rushes up the beach brings the danger with it.
Warn people: bump into another beachgoer and they will sprint away — that scores points.
Grab pickups: 🥥 speed, 🍦 an extra heart, 📣 stun every crocodile, ⭐ bonus points.
Three hearts: a bite costs one. Lose them all and the run ends.

Kind to kids

Nobody gets hurt in Croc Run. A caught beachgoer disappears in a splash of foam with a cartoon fright and comes back later. There is no blood, no scary imagery, no chat, no adverts, and nothing is ever sent over the internet.

Croc Run is a single web page with no downloads and no plugins. The beach, the waves, the crocodiles and every sound effect are generated by code as the game runs:

WebGL for the animated ocean, the breaking foam and the wet sand.
Canvas to draw every character into one texture at start-up, which is why the beachgoers can wear any colour you like.
Web Audio for the surf, the splashes and the chomps — no sound files.
Local storage for players, points and the leaderboard, kept on your device only.
